8 Nov 2024

Grand African NEMO 2024 (GANO 2024) is the annual event of operational cooperation, co-organized by France and the Yaoundé Architecture, aiming at reinforcing security and safety of maritime spaces in the Gulf of Guinea and increasing interoperability between the region’s maritime stakeholders.

Stretching from Senegal to Angola, GANO 24 will mobilize naval units and aircrafts from Gulf of Guinea countries and their European and international partners for a series of exercises from November 4 to 12, 2024.

YARIS will be the reference platform for surveillance, analysis, information sharing and coordination of maritime operations during the various GANO 2024 exercises covering piracy, IUU fishing, search and rescue (SAR), ship assistance, illicit trafficking, NARCOPS, and maritime pollution response.

YARIS was developed with the support of the European Union and in partnership with the Yaoundé Architecture. It is intended to be transferred to the region and become the sovereign tool of the Yaoundé Architecture, which will have ownership and control of it.
