Training of Grand Popo Lookouts in YARIS 2.0 as part of Exercise GANO_24

8 Nov 2024

The Beninese Navy trained lookouts at the Grand Popo Naval Base in the use of the new version of the YARIS platform, as part of the GANO 25 exercise which began this Monday, November 4.

This initiative is part of an approach to optimizing maritime surveillance, with semaphores installed in Cotonou, Grand Popo and Sèmè, connected to the Operations Command and Coordination Center.

The training covered several practical modules, including the presentation of YARIS 2.0 functionalities, the creation and sharing of operational situations, as well as the use of cartographic tools and the management of information filters.

This update will allow lookouts to better manage and analyze maritime situations, thus strengthening the security and sovereignty of Beninese waters.

Today, thanks to the interconnection available in YARIS, naval centers can exchange, communicate with each other on a secure platform, share maritime information with complete peace of mind, at the national, regional or international level, as they wish.

The maritime prefecture and the French Navy thus reaffirm their commitment to effective and proactive surveillance.
