From September 24 to 26, 2024, a team of experts from the GoGIN II Project and the Yaoundé Architecture successfully carried out a training course dedicated to the YARIS platform, as part of the SIREN24 exercise, organized at the Pôle Écoles Méditerranée Nord (PEM) in Saint Mandrier.
The main aim of this training course was to enhance the skills of maritime center executives for the effective use of YARIS in maritime crisis management, particularly in response to oil pollution incidents.
Over two days, 36 trainees from 16 centers in the Yaoundé Architecture countries and five partner nations (France, Spain, Morocco, Mauritania, and Italy) received in-depth presentations on YARIS functionalities and their crucial role in maritime operational efficiency.
SIREN24, supervised by CECLANT and supported by Yaoundé Architecture, combines theoretical training and practical experience on board the amphibious helicopter carrier Dixmude in operation CORYMBE. This approach enabled participants to better understand the tools at their disposal to meet contemporary maritime challenges.
The training mission, led by Jean François Eon, Ruddy Goliele, and François Marty, achieved its objectives, marking an important step towards improving maritime safety in this region. Thanks to this initiative, the officers and senior officials trained are now better equipped to respond to any maritime crises they may face.
As the maritime context evolves, this type of training is essential to strengthen regional and international cooperation, enhance the crisis management capabilities of the actors in charge, and contribute to a more robust maritime safety framework in the Gulf of Guinea and beyond.
